What's covered

Home coverage options

  • Homeowners (HO-3 / HO-5)

Covers your dwelling, other structures, belongings and personal liability.

  • Landlord / Rental Property

Coverage for rental homes and investment properties, including loss of rental income.

  • Renters & Condo

Protects your belongings and liability when the building is insured by someone else.

  • Flood Insurance

Standard home policies exclude flood. We can quote NFIP and private flood options.

  • Wind & Hail

Know your wind/hail deductible before storm season.

  • Personal Umbrella

Extra liability protection above your home and auto policies.

Understand your wind and hail deductible

Many Texas home policies carry a separate deductible for wind and hail damage, often a percentage of your dwelling coverage rather than a flat dollar amount. On a home insured for $400,000, a 2% wind/hail deductible means you pay the first $8,000 of a storm claim. We show you the deductible options side by side so there are no surprises after a storm. Read our hail season guide.

Replacement cost vs. actual cash value

Replacement cost coverage pays to repair or rebuild with similar materials at today's prices. Actual cash value subtracts depreciation, which can leave a large gap, especially on older roofs. Some carriers apply a roof payment schedule based on roof age. We'll explain exactly how each quote handles your roof.

Bundle home and auto

Most carriers offer a multi-policy discount when you insure your home and vehicles together. Bundling also means one agent and one renewal conversation. Ask us to compare bundled and separate pricing.

FAQ

Home insurance FAQ

Does home insurance cover hail damage in Texas?

Most Texas homeowners policies cover hail, often with a separate wind/hail deductible. Some carriers limit roof payments based on roof age. On the Gulf Coast, many policies exclude wind and hail, and that coverage may come from the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA), which we can help arrange. We'll explain the details of each quote.

Do I need flood insurance in Texas?

Standard homeowners policies do not cover flood. If you're in or near a flood zone, or in an area that has flooded before, we recommend it. NFIP policies usually have a 30-day waiting period.

How can I lower my home insurance premium?

Bundling with auto, choosing a higher deductible, a newer or impact-resistant roof, and security or monitored alarm systems can all help. We also re-shop your policy at renewal.

What's the difference between HO-3 and HO-5?

Both cover the dwelling on an open-perils basis. HO-5 also covers personal belongings on an open-perils basis, while HO-3 covers belongings only for named perils.
