Texas minimum auto insurance
Texas requires liability coverage of at least 30/60/25: $30,000 for injuries per person, $60,000 per accident, and $25,000 for property damage. Those minimums are often not enough to cover a serious accident, and you're personally responsible for anything above your limits. We'll help you choose limits that protect your savings.
Coverage to consider beyond the minimum
- Collision and comprehensive pay to repair your own vehicle, and are usually required if you finance or lease.
- Uninsured/underinsured motorist protects you when the at-fault driver has little or no insurance.
- Personal Injury Protection (PIP) helps pay medical bills and lost wages regardless of fault. Texas insurers must offer it, and you must reject it in writing if you don't want it.
- Rental reimbursement and roadside assistance keep you moving after a claim.
SR-22 and high-risk drivers
If the state requires you to file an SR-22, we can quote carriers that accept them and handle the filing. Read our SR-22 guide.
